The carved Gilbert Rabbit on left is taken from an early watercolor done by John Conrad Gilbert around 1795-1800. The watercolor is considered to be the first representation of an Easter Rabbit in America. The actual watercolor is part of the Abby Aldrich Collection I had originally done these back in the 80's, by request, from Gerlachs of Lecha located in Emmaus PA. Once again this year, the Gilbert Rabbit is available in limited quantities.
